The Law Foundation of Nova Scotia makes grants to advance access to justice including initiatives to increase public access to the law, legal education, research and reform, and the administration of justice. Grants are made to not-for-profit organizations that work to benefit the people of Nova Scotia. The Foundation does not provide funding to individuals or to for-profit ventures.

In 2017, through research culminating in the Grants Review and Future Directions Report (available for download here), the Foundation reviewed the impact of its granting, and, accordingly, identified gaps which it has marked as priority areas for future funding, primarily through the approval of one-year project proposals.
